The Health and Physical Education program at Bassendean Primary School is a comprehensive, whole school program which is based on the Western Australian Health and Physical Education Curriculum. The program is run in normal class time from Pre Primary through to Year 6, as well as before school, after school and lunch breaks. The program is skills focussed and encourages students to improve their skill level and become an effective team member in a variety of sporting disciplines whilst having fun with their friends.
At Bassendean Primary School students participate in swimming lessons and a faction swimming carnival. They compete in Faction and Interschool cross country running and athletics events. Students have the opportunity to participate in Interschool netball (Fever Cup), AFL (Eagles Cup) and soccer competitions; Eagles Faction Footy; Freo Footy Skills; Dockers Cup (girls only AFL carnival); before school Run Club; after school sport coaching thanks to Sporting Schools (including AFL, hockey, rugby, tennis, volleyball, little athletics and teeball); Smarter Than Smoking netball lightning carnival; Blast T20 Cricket Interschool Carnival; Smarter Than Smoking MTB Schools Championships and more.
Over the years students have also participated in sessions run by Lacrosse WA, Golf WA, West Coast Eagles, Fremantle Dockers, Swan Districts Football Club, Perth Lynx (basketball), Hockey WA, Rugby WA, as well as gymnastics and more.
