Enrolment applications for 2026 have now closed and places in Kindergarten and Pre-Primary have been filled. 

There are very limited places available at Bassendean Primary School for 2026 in Year 1 – 6. Please call the school on 62161400 or email cardi.bates@education.wa.edu.au regarding enrolment availability.  

Bassendean Primary School is a school without a local intake area. The only criterion for prioritising enrolments is proximity to the school.

You need to apply to enrol your child if they are:

  • starting Kindergarten in 2026 – 4 years old by 30 June
  • starting Pre-primary in 2026 and enrolling in their first year of compulsory schooling – 5 years old by 30 June
  • changing schools
  • new to Western Australia.

Below is a list of dates and the year group a child starts school according to date of birth.

Enrolment applications for 2027 (Kindy and Pre-Primary) will open on Friday 24 April 2026 and close Friday 24 July 2026. 

Enrolment Procedures

Bassendean Primary School is a school without a local intake area. The only criterion for prioritising enrolments is proximity to the school.

A parent or guardian must complete and return via email the Application for Enrolment Form for consideration by the Principal. When emailing the Application for Enrolment Form, copies of the following supporting documentation is required:

  • Child’s Birth Certificate 
  • Proof of Address – examples include Rental Agreement, Shire Rates, Bank Statement, Utilities Statement
  • ACIR Immunisation history statement, not more than two months old. Click HERE to view an example. Please see below for instructions on obtaining your child’s AIR statement.
  • Details of disability or medical condition (if applicable)
  • Family court orders (if applicable)
  • Visa document/details (if applicable)

Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) History

All enrolment applications at Bassendean Primary School require immunisation records. Immunisation record evidence supplied must be a recent download (from MyGov) of your child’s Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) history statement, dated not more than two months old.

To obtain your child’s Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) history statement, parents and carers can:

            • visit Medicare Online through the MyGov website
            • phone the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) enquiries line on 1800 653 809
            • use the Express Plus Medicare app
            • visit your local Department of Human Services Centre.
            • visit a Medicare Service Centre
            • Families who do not hold a Medicare card are advised to call AIR line on 1800 653 809 to request an Immunisation History Statement.
            • For translating and interpreting services, parents/guardians are advised to call 131 450.

The Department of Health will follow up any statements that are ‘not up to date’.

Students without an ‘up to date’ AIR immunisation history statement may be advised to stay away from school if an outbreak of a vaccine preventable disease occurs.

Children commencing Kindergarten must be vaccinated.
